HOM TV Tour Helps us Fall into the Season

In case you missed our September event – a behind the scenes tour of HOM-TV and CAM-TV (two of Meridian Township’s Government Access TV Stations) we want to fill you in. Our guide for the evening was Lynn Meikle. Lynn is a freelance producer for the station who is passionate about the station, it’s programming, and the extensive internship program offered.

We spent the first part of the event mingling and networking amongst familiar faces and a handful of new visitors too. Once Lynn took the floor, the room quieted down as we learned everything from the history of public access to how the stations are funded, to how anyone – even you – can have your own show aired on TV! Did you know there’s a local cooking show, an interactive kids program filmed with local school kids, and a travel program?

Following the presentation, Lynn took groups through the station to see the production studio, show us the props, and explain the benefits of remodel underway. By next year, Meridain Township’s stations will be fully digital. During the tour, we also passed by a large map with dozens and dozens of push pins. Each pin was tagged with a photo of a HOM-TV intern and a little note about what they do now. The in-depth, hands-on experience that HOM-TV fosters forms a solid foundation for a career in broadcasting. Lynn, explained that the HOM-TV internship program is open for anyone with a passion for TV and production– not just students.

Thank you to Lynn and HOM-TV for hosting MITN and orchestrating a fabulous event.
